Kevin Dill Family Fund Grants Top $117,000

Kevin Dill has built a life around serving others – and a Lewy Body Dementia diagnosis in 2019 has not changed that. At the time of his diagnosis, Kevin was serving as Director of Black Hawk County Veterans Affairs, a role he cared deeply about. After stepping away from that position, Kevin and his wife Tammy looked for new ways to continue making a difference.

In 2022, they created the Kevin Dill Family Fund at the Waterloo Community Foundation to support causes close to their hearts, including veterans, people living with dementia or Parkinson’s, and their caregivers.

Since then, the fund has granted more than $117,000 to local nonprofits making an impact in these areas.

One of the main fundraising efforts behind the fund is the annual Kevin Dill Golf Tournament, held each June at Gates Park Golf Course. The tournament has grown every year, and this summer’s fourth annual event was the most successful yet.

With strong support from sponsors, donors, and community members, the fund awarded $48,600 to 10 organizations in 2025. Grant recipients included Cedar Valley Hospice, Dementia Friendly Cedar Valley, UNI Dementia Simulation House, Husome Strong Foundation, and more.

Kevin, a Waterloo native and longtime resident, remains actively involved and proud of how the Donor Advised Fund is helping people in the community. The Waterloo Community Foundation is grateful to help make it happen.
