The Waterloo Community Foundation is pleased to announce its partnership with Sailor Nation Baseball and Softball in an initiative that will benefit young athletes in the Cedar Valley.
Sailor Nation has established a unique and transformative agreement with the City of Waterloo to secure the Galloway Park ball diamond on Stratford Avenue as the future home field for their youth baseball and softball programs. This dedicated space will serve 3rd- to 7th-grade students from Cedar Valley Catholic Schools and St. Patrick’s School in Waterloo and Cedar Falls, providing a stable location for practices and league play. The project will also offer a dedicated practice field for youth football teams.
Through this agreement, Sailor Nation will fund the renovation and seasonal maintenance of the field, gaining exclusive rights to manage the diamond’s schedule.
Recognizing the importance of community support in realizing this vision, Sailor Nation Inc., an independent organization dedicated to supporting Cedar Valley Catholic Schools students, has partnered with the Waterloo Community Foundation to establish the Sailor Nation Fund.
“Sailor Nation was formed to address specific needs within our youth athletic programs that extend beyond the resources of the schools,” said Phil Nash, a Board Member of Sailor Nation Inc. “This partnership with the City of Waterloo and the establishment of a dedicated home field at Galloway Park fulfills a long-held need for our baseball and softball programs, providing a consistent and reliable space for our young athletes to learn, grow, and compete.”
The Sailor Nation Fund provides an avenue for community members to make donations toward the renovation of Galloway Park into a top-notch youth sports facility.
